Conversion of Large House into Two Units – North Shore
Job description:
The owners decided to convert an existing large 5 bedroom home, built in the early 1980s, into 2 units with a firewall in between. With better use of the available floor area, unit 1 maintained 5 bedrooms and used the existing kitchen, lounge and dining areas. Unit 2 utilized the rest of the floor area, making use of the family room and double garage to create a 2 bedroom unit with new living area, kitchen, bathrooms and laundry and a large deck off the lounge.
As part of the alteration, a lot of maintenance and updating of the property was completed.
Client Feedback:
“When looking for a builder for our construction project, a friend who is a Civil Engineer/Building Inspector himself, recommended Glen and Don’s team to us. They had done work on his home, and he said they were the best builders he had come across. We have not been disappointed.
Glen Hassett was the licensed builder we trusted to run our project. Glen organised the materials and the sub-trades, dealt with council inspections and paperwork for our code compliance certificate. Glen could call on Don’s team whenever more manpower was required.
Glen’s communication was clear and professional. Glen was happy to take our instructions, would advise the best practice and would explain what they were doing. As well as daily conversations, we received a weekly email report summarising what had been done and what was next.
It was a clean and safety conscious worksite and no shortcuts were taken.
During the course of the build, Glen identified, discussed, and rectified several faults with the
existing building, and was happy to fix stairs and make safe handrails elsewhere on the property.
We were very pleased with the process and the end result, and would hope they are available when the time comes for our next project.”
